bz2 module not present in Python 2.3b1 source?

I've installed Python2.3 beta 1 both on WIn32 and on Linux (build from 
source). On win32 I can access the new bz2 module, on Linux I can't. 
Should I report this as a bug or is the bz2 module by default not 
enabled in the source distribution?
