Where to insert Python readline?

Recent Cygwin-based versions Python have GNU readline working under Windows:

$ python
Python 2.2.2 (#1, Mar  9 2003, 08:18:26)
[GCC 3.2 20020927 (prerelease)] on cygwin
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
 >>> import readline,rlcompleter
 >>>

$ uname -a
