A bad copy cached on an intermediate node; flaky downloading software (e.g.,
if using IE, try Netscape, or vice versa; likewise http vs ftp); hardware or
software problems in any of the nodes between you and the source.  In the
70's I once spent a week tracking a stubborn "bad download" case to a
particular misconfigured piece of hardware 1000 miles away:  it cleared the
most-significant bit of each byte passing thru it; "plain text" downloads
always worked fine; nobody else had the same problem with binary downloads
because they weren't going thru that node.

Or, if you're lucky, it could just be phenomenal coincidence <wink>.
