Troy, thanks for the great response.  

Also, I was wondering if anyone could post a PyQT code example that
would minimize an application to the lower right-side system tray on
Win 2000/XP (next to the clock).  I asked this question before, but
never got any satisfactory responses.  IIRC, this is really easy to do
in WxPython.
