The type of a tkinter StringVars and IntVars?

I don't do much GUI programming, but I believe you're looking for 
the 'isinstance' function:

>>> class IntVar(object):
...     pass
...
>>> a = IntVar()
>>> isinstance(a, IntVar)
True
