I kind of like the one at
http://www.personal.psu.edu/staff/i/u/iua1/python/apse/
which you might use something like
>>> import Apse
>>> ap = Apse.Approx('motorcycle', edit=1)
>>> ap.match(['motorcycle', 'motorcicle', 'motorscooter'])
['motorcycle', 'motorcicle']
