As well as the above, I find a little .bat file like this to set some
paths and start python or your application is helpful, eg

@echo off
set DEMOHOME=%CD%
set PYTHONHOME=%DEMOHOME%\Python24
set PYTHONPATH=%PYTHONHOME%;%DEMOHOME%\Demo\Python
set PYTHON=%PYTHONHOME%\python.exe
set PYTHONW=%PYTHONHOME%\pythonw.exe
set PATH=%PYTHONHOME%;%PATH%
start "Demo" "%PYTHONW%" "demo.pyw"
