Hi! 

If you are under Vista, you must change the LSA parameter.
See: 
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
         LMCompatibilityLevel   
    try with value 1 or  0


And use a Samba not too old.
