Here's another way. Go to /MinGW/lib/gcc/mingw32/3.4.2/spec, and modify the
libgcc directive as follows:

*libgcc:
%{mthreads:-lmingwthrd} -lmingw32 -lgcc -lmoldname -lmingwex -lmsvcr71
