use a loop. (untested)

def parsefolder(folder):
    lst = []
    for pattern in ('*.txt','*.doc'):
        path = os.path.normpath(os.path.join(folder, pattern))
        lst.extend(glob.glob(path))
    lst.sort()
    return lst
