Building python 2.5 fails on linux 64

Hi,
 
I have the following error when building python 2.5 (revision 63261)
 
./Parser/asdl_c.py -c ./Python ./Parser/Python.asdl
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./Parser/asdl_c.py", line 7, in ?
    import os, sys, traceback
ImportError: No module named os
make: *** [Python/Python-ast.c] Error 1
 
I'm using gcc version 4.1.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
 
What could be the problem ?
