No.  This was discussed before on this list, and that discussion
referenced (if I recall correctly) the discussion on python-dev 
at the time the decision was taken.

If my name were Laura Creighton, I would now say:

"I told you so!"

Now I have to weigh my words carefully to make sure I
am not misunderstood:
