replace numbers in a string

hi All,

i have few lines in file
"ttccatttctggacatgacgtctgt6901ggtttaagctttgtgaaagaatgtgctttgattcg"
i need to replace the number and get only the alphabet in such a case what
should i do.
Can any body suggest me
