If the name is followed by "<" then just match the name with [^<]+:
href="(?P<url>http://mysite\.com/[^"]+)">(<b>)?(?P<name>[^<]+)(</
> b>)?</a>
I've also changed mysite.com to mysite\.com because . will match any
character, but what you probably want to match is ".".
