For serial processing, DOM is superfluous superstructure.
For random access processing, some might disagree.

For Python (unlike Java), wrapping module functions as class static 
methods is superfluous superstructure that only slows things down.

     raise Exception(...) # should be something specific like
     raise ValueError(...)
