Passing File Objects into Subprocess.Popen

This sounds rather unlikely. Have you used communicate()?

>      process = subprocess.Popen(my_cmd, stderr=my_stderr, stdout=my_stdout)
>      process.wait()

Try to rewind the file pointer before reading from it.
