Multiprocessing, shared memory vs. pickled copies

I am also using this to implement synchronization primitives (barrier,
lock, semaphore, event) that can be sent over an instance of
multiprocessing.Queue. The synchronization primitives in
multiprocessing cannot be communicated this way.
