if sys.version < "2.7": ...


Or test for features and either provide your own, or disable 
functionality not available:

class MyTest:
    try:
        @unittest.FancyFeature
        def testFancy(self):
            self.assertFancy(self, ...)
    except AttributeError:
        pass
