socket.rcv timeout while-loop

or rather
timeout = s.gettimeout()
b=time.clock()
while time.clock()-b<3 :
s.settimeout(3-time.clock()+b)
try :
data=s.recv(1024)
except :
break
s.settimeout(timeout)
