Yes, or a for loop, this works for me now:

      import subprocess

      com = ['/bin/ls', '-l', '/usr/bin']
      with subprocess.Popen(com, stdout=subprocess.PIPE, 
stderr=subprocess.STDOUT) as proc:
          for line in proc:
            print('out: ' + str(line, 'utf8'))
