Hi Naomi,

You're welcome to the group.
We will very much like to see the python community grow here and are
grateful for your availability to help.
Right now there are a number of python developers here but we have not
organised any kind of event (none that I know of).
So holding the djangogirls thingy will be a very good start to getting
people together.
BTW there is this meetup that we are starting (will send the link in a bit).
