If permissions happen to be set so that you can connect to the
registries on those remote machines, you may be able to follow the
instructions here:
    http://nscsysop.hypermart.net/setproxy.html

This might be a good excuse to force your stragglers into the domain. 
There is certainly good justification for doing so.
