I've never gotten too far using Alpha for Python. I did finally track 
down a Python mode package for it, but it seems half finished and 
doesn't do very much. I've never attempted to use the Mac version of 
Emacs for Python as it's so old that I doubt if it would support 
Python mode. I don't know of a Python tool for MPW/ToolServer, but 
would be interested if anyone happens to have one.

The upshot is that the only editor that I use for Python on the Mac 
is the IDE which is very slick but narrowly focused.
