[Pythonmac-SIG] How do I install packages?

You have to read the distutils documentation. Distutils and Mac can partially 
work together, but it isn't seamless yet. People are working on it, so for the 
next MacPython release it should indeed be as simple as running setup.py.

Although, of course, there's always the problem that most distributions will 
need a C compiler, which Unix people usually have but Mac people hardly ever.
