If someone can help me with the following that'd be nice.
What I finally wanted to do for MacPython 2.1.1 is use the CFM
fragment version numbers is make PythonCore backward compatible to 2.1
extension modules. How I thought this worked is by setting the "old
definition" and "current version" numbers to the current (2.1.1)
version number and setting the "old implementation" to the old (2.1)
number.
Unfortunately this doesn't work. A previously linked PythonInterpreter
refused to load PythonCore, while my understanding was that it should.
Before I break things, can someone help me with this? Even if it
doesn't make it into 2.1.1 I'd like to provide this functionality in
the future.
To be completely clear, what I want to attain is:
- Extension modules linked against 2.1 will continue to work for
2.1.1.
- Extension modules linked against 2.1.1 will require 2.1.1.
