Try the "macspeech" module. It's only available under the classic PPC model,
it hasn't been ported to Carbon (yet?).
There used to be a demo with it that would read out the script to Monty Python
and the Holy Grail, with different voices selected for the different actors,
but I'm afraid it has been lost in the mist of time...
