[Pythonmac-SIG] Picture on canvas

Hi: 
Is there a way to bring a picture (bmp, jpg, tif) on a canvas ?

When I do it via PIL and then try to wrap it for TK, I get an error.
My interimsolution is to convert the picture via PIL to a gif and then
loading it with Photoimage fronm TK - the problem is that the quality drops
considerably.

Has anybody any idea or solution for this problem ?
