I guess we could optionally put the source in a resource (a TEXT 
resource named "__main__.py" springs to mind for MacPython), and we 
could probably teach the IDE to understand such files. There would be a 
bit more magic involved, i.e. when saving such a file the IDE should 
really do the equivalent of BuildApplet.

I can easily do the BuildApplet support (which would be an optional 
argument buildtools.process), anyone willing to tackle the IDE bits and 
pieces?
