I have something that works along those lines. It works by piping
AppleScript strings to osacompile and osascript. It's pretty slow, but
since you say that doesn't matter, it may do the job. You can get it at
<http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~mjbarber/OSATools.tgz>.
Definitely check out aeve as other have mentioned, though.
As a side note for those who've tried OSATools before: I mentioned the
package on the mailing list some months ago. Nothing at all has changed
with it since then.
