[Pythonmac-SIG] Accessing the clipboard

I've been reading through the docs but I can't find any method for
reading and writing to the Macintosh clipboard. Is this possible with
Python 2.2 and Mac OS 9?

I am looking specifically for a utility to edit the content of the
clipboard, say, change the HTML links to lowercase or remove/add quote
symbols and I can't find a decent utility to do this, so I figured I'd
try to write one and make a CSM our of it.
