[Pythonmac-SIG] Carbon.framework versus ApplicationServices.framework

I'm working at putting things that are currently in Carbon in the 
"right" framework, and while
this works fine for something like CG, which doesn't depend on 
Carbon.framework but really on
ApplicationServices.framework, it doesn't work for AE and QD.

If I link the AE module against ApplicationServices I get various 
undefined routines (for
Qd I get only one: GetWindowPort), so it seems that these toolkits have 
two distinct sets
of routines: some defined in both ApplicationServices and Carbon, but 
some only defined in
Carbon.

Does anyone know how I can distinguish between the two?
