or it may have added confusion:

$ which python
/usr/local/bin/python

$ ls -l /usr/local/bin/python
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  admin  15 10 Feb  2004 /usr/local/bin/python -> 
/usr/bin/python

(no idea how i got that symlink)
