To reinforce Michael's believability, "rich comparisons", which is what 
overloading the >,<, etc. operators was called, was added as of Python 
2.1 (I think) largely to support NumPy. NumPy would ahve loved to have 
beena ble to oeverload "and", "or" and friends as well, but that was not 
added for the reasons others have stated.
