Could you be a little more clear as to what precisely you are trying to 
do?  The information you've given so far is kind of ambiguous (for 
example, duplicating a file handle doesn't really have anything to do 
with separate files), so I don't really know how to answer the 
question.

Also, you'll get much better advice if you state what you are trying to 
do, rather than your current approach; there's usually a simple obvious 
(given appropriate experience and Dutch heritage) way of doing almost 
anything in Python.
