In my usual inarticulate fashion, I was trying to remember a
graph at the get-together last night and all I could remember
was the "Trough of Disillusionment" (which was the wrong
graph completely).  The one I was trying to remember is

The "Escape from Multithreaded Hell" is an interesting read
(at least, I remember it being an interesting read when
I read it, which is a while ago now).
