I wouldn't mind getting involved in the ndimage port to Cython, as in
co-mentoring it or helping out any other way you see fit, .

I haven't done much in skimage, but am a numpy developer and have done some
stuff in ndimage. If nothing else, I actually understand what most of the
ndimage C code is doing, which is probably a useful skill for the job!
