Welcome and thanks for offering to help. Being just sprint co-chair, I will leave it first to Kelsey (conference chair), Nelle and Serge (program commitee co-chairs) or Jill (global organization) to provide ideas. My 2 cents is that I would think you would fit great in support of the GIS track if there are still needs there. IIRC, I believe that track is chaired by Chris Barker (NOAA), a fellow from your field. If not/In addition, there are always things that can be done gathering the meteorological community you are in to organize a Bird of a Feather to discuss any topic of important to that community, or to organize a sprint and help push code forward there. To do that, I would contact other AMS-Python folks and make SciPy a mid-year gathering of that community. I can help there, and would contact Scott Collis, Jonathan Helmus, David Brown, Johnny Lin, Charles Doutriaux, ... Again, these are my 2 cents, and others know better what pressing needs we have.
