Hey Chris,
Nice to see you found your way to the mailing list. Welcome and thanks for
offering to help.
Being just sprint co-chair, I will leave it first to Kelsey (conference
chair), Nelle and Serge (program commitee co-chairs) or Jill (global
organization) to provide ideas.
My 2 cents is that I would think you would fit great in support of the GIS
track if there are still needs there. IIRC, I believe that track is chaired
by Chris Barker (NOAA), a fellow from your field. If not/In addition, there
are always things that can be done gathering the meteorological community
you are in to organize a Bird of a Feather to discuss any topic of
important to that community, or to organize a sprint and help push code
forward there. To do that, I would contact other AMS-Python folks and make
SciPy a mid-year gathering of that community. I can help there, and would
contact Scott Collis, Jonathan Helmus, David Brown, Johnny Lin, Charles
Doutriaux, ...
Again, these are my 2 cents, and others know better what pressing needs we
have.
Best,
Jonathan
