Hi!
Could someone guide me on how to build Scipy (0.7) on a Solaris machine?
Operating system info: 64bit SunOS v5.9 Generic_122300-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890 I have python 2.5.2 and numpy 1.3.x installed and running with no problems. Scipy is a bit difficult to build.
The configuration file for scipy requires "BLAS" with the following error:
--- SNIP---
Blas (http://www.netlib.org/blas/) libraries not found.
Directories to search for the libraries can be specified in the
numpy/distutils/site.cfg file (section [blas]) or by setting
the BLAS environment variable.
END OF SNIP-
Compiling the blas libraries asked for another package (LAPACK), which incidentally did not compile either. [I really miss Linux now].
I don't know whether I am pursuing a red herring at this point and maybe there is another cleaner way to do this. Has anyone had any experience with this configuration?
Sincerely
Kamran Husain
