Having googled a bit, I thought I should add I don't think is due to mixing compilers, g77 isn't installed, only gfortran, so as far as I know everything (ATLAS, umf, scipy) is built with that. (lapack atlas etc all built from source, gfortran standard ubuntu version) Robin
