[Shtoom] how to test doug and DTMF

I've done some refactoring work, and I wonder how to tell whether the 
end result has broken doug and DTMF.  Obviously I know how to run the 
unit tests, but are there any other tests I should run in addition to 
those?  I don't use these features normally so I don't know how to 
exercise them other than running the unit tests.
