Why is my messageinfo database is dead? How do i prevent
this from happening in the future?

This means that your messageinfo database is dead.  You'll
neeed to delete it.  It's called spambayes.messageinfo.db
and is in your data directory (the configuration page has
the full path).  Something like C:\Documents and
Settings\{username}\Application Data\SpamBayes on WinXP.
