Courier and Courier New render smaller at the same point size than 
Arial, Verdana, etc.  Try something like:

     TT.literal {
       font-size: 110%;
     }

Tweak the percentage until it looks right to you, and then just *hope* 
that it renders the same for everyone else. ;-)
