This fails for me.  I've so far traced it back to this install error:

    running install_lib
    warning: install_lib: 'build/lib' does not exist -- no Python modules to install
    running install_scripts

Something must be hosed in the latest version of setup.py, but I'm not a
distutils expert.  I don't see anything obviously wrong with it.  If you
delete your build directory then try to install, does it fail for you?

I'm running Python from CVS as of August 11th and SpamBayes from CVS.
