They just send their nonsense message to russ_foster at comcast.net.  If it
bounces, they delete that address from their database.  If not, they mark it
valid for some period of time.  I think the primary reason they have to do
this is that many people simply abandon an email address when it gets too
overloaded with spam.  If they didn't perform some checks, their database
would fairly rapidly become useless.
