Perhaps an option in the drop down menu should deal with retrieving a
message without training might be the answer.  I can't imagine that it's
that common an operation to perform.  Personally the read/unread feature
would not be of use to me as my mail is delivered directly to my inbox and
so the message would have been unread and classified as spam automatically.
Other people's mileage may vary.
