It couldn't be any other type of plug-in, but you could have been using
the pop3proxy, imapfilter, or hammie[filter].

When I said "in luck" I was speaking somewhat tongue-in-cheek.  You
don't get logs because any errors are just output as traces into the
console window that you're running from.

The Outlook plug-in is the way to go, unless you have a reason not to.
