Hope I'm not stumbling too boorishly into your midst... I read no
FAQs before deciding to send this.
Spambayes caught my eye some time ago with who-knows-who's positive
review of it, so I recommended it to a friend. (Not using it (yet)
myself because I don't (yet) have a spam problem.) They're using
... uh, the Outlook plugin, uh, probably .8 or something.
(14:52:20) I: hey, how's that spambayes working out for you?
(14:52:21) He <AUTO-REPLY> : currently Rico is assing off somewhere
instead of doing whatever it is he is supposed to be
doing. If you'd like to leave a message he may well get
back to you when he gets serious again.
(14:52:31) He: works well. I'd recommend it
(14:53:15) I: any legits (ham) getting incorrectly marked?
(14:53:33) He: I'm surprised partly that it still pulls mail aside
as "suspect" with the large large voume of spam I get,
I'd expect it to be trained perfectly pretty quick
(14:53:55) He: Some got marked "suspect" early, but haven't since
the day of install
(14:54:20) I: i think it errs on the side of being unsure
(14:54:27) I: instead of accidentally deleting a legit email
(14:54:50) He: yeah, I think so
(14:55:09) I: but has it lightened your load?
(14:55:43) He: I love the idea of training it. That wy for a while
during training, you get a little excited every time new
mail spam slinks through, because you get another
opportunity to train it
(14:55:54) I: heh, fun!
(14:56:05) He: I used to get maybe 10 legit emails out of 1000 a day
(14:56:32) I: that really really stinks
(14:56:36) I: (stunk)
(14:56:52) He: Now of that 990, 80% get flagged as spam, and 19% get
flagged as suspect, and 2% slip through
(14:56:59) He: Or 1% actually
(14:57:23) I: and it's getting better all the time, maybe not as
dramatically as first
(14:58:16) He: Thanks for the recom.
(14:58:43) I: you bet
(14:58:45) I: glad it works
