The way that the proxy works is that instead of connecting directly to your
mail server, it connects via a local proxy, which in turns connects to the
mail server. The local proxy needs to be available on a certain 'port' (the
FAQ has a nicer written, diagrammatic, version of all this).

If you're only connecting to a single mail server, then just use 110 for the
POP3 port. If you're connecting to multiple mail servers, then do something
like use 8110, 8111, 8112, and so on.

You're probably better off leaving the two SMTP proxy options blank, as
they're a bit problematic with the 1.0a9 release. You don't need them
anyway, unless you're planning on training by forwarding mail (rather than
using the web interface).

For localhost, you key in "localhost". It's a special DNS name that means
"this machine".

In Outlook Express, you get to the appropriate screen by doing:

   Tools->Accounts->Click the appropriate mail account->Properties->Servers
(tab)

Please always include the list (spambayes at python.org) in your replies
(reply-all), and please don't send me personal mail about SpamBayes. This
way, you get everyone's help, and avoid a lack of replies when I'm busy.
