[Spambayes] HELP: Spambayes simply stops working

Hi,

my problem:
i used spambayes for several months now.
It simply stopped working suddenly (without changes in the desktops
environment).
Means: incoming mails are not filtered. I see no spam percentage in the
column I configured outlook to show.
also a click on "delete as spam" is simply doing nothing.
a click on "spambayes" which usually opens the dropdown menu  to access
the spambayes manager does nothing, no menu showing up.

deinstallation seems to be successfull, but: in outlook the spambayes
menubar is still there after uninstall.

reinstallation makes nothing better. tried several versions as well - no
success.

my workaround: detect spam myself and mova using drag and drop to the
spam folder.

HELP, i get flooded by spam! Thanks for any hint!
